The holidays might look a little different for most of us this year. But while you’re socially-distancing, there’s still plenty of fun (and FREE!) ways to get into the Denver holiday spirit with your family this season!
WHAT: Christkindl Market
WHEN: Civic Center Park
WHERE: Through December 23
Christkindl Markets are a German tradition that date back centuries, offering handmade crafts such as nesting dolls and ornaments, various foods and beverages, and the chance to immerse yourself in new cultural holiday traditions.
Grab a glass of Gluhwein and hit this Denver holiday market to peruse some of the festive, traditional gift ideas and delicious food. Choose between classic Gluhwein flavored with orange, cloves, cinnamon, and honey, or go with something a little different. You can also try the white Gluhwein, flavored with apple and cinnamon, or the blueberry Gluhwein. If you seek something a little stronger to keep out the cold, shots of honey, apple liquor, or peppermint schnapps can be added.
WHAT: PARADE OF LIGHTS
WHEN: Thru Dec. 31, 2020
WHERE: Throughout downtown Denver
The 2020 edition of this downtown Denver favorite will look a little different than in years past. This year’s parade will be a multi-week, socially-distanced extravaganza spread across downtown. All your favorite floats will be displayed throughout downtown, from Denver Pavilions to Denver Union Station, offering multiple chances for your family to enjoy the charm and excitement of the Denver holiday season. WHERE: 16th Street Mall at Welton Street
Join the free festivities at this cherished holiday attraction. Come see the Mile High Tree, a brilliantly lit, 110-foot-tall immersive art installation that provides a dazzling lights-and-music show.
During open times, visitors will enjoy a selection of festive and diverse holiday songs timed to the tree’s light displays. The full program lasts about five minutes and will run approximately every 15 minutes.
When the tree is not open to the public, you can still enjoy the tree’s programmed lights without music safely from the perimeter of the tree lot on either Welton Street or on the 16th Street Mall. Then, enjoy perusing the holiday offerings at the shops and restaurants located in the 16th Street Mall shopping district.
We hope you have a fun time getting festive with your families this year! Happy Holidays!
