Fall Design Trends

October 22, 2019 By Rosanne Dutzer Leave a Comment

Fall in Colorado has arrived and we can hardly contain our excitement! While pumpkin-spiced everything is one of the best parts of this season, we’ve been anxiously waiting to haul out the autumn decorations. If you’re anything like us and have been in a retail store lately, it’s almost impossible not to indulge in the festive decor. From warm-colored leaf decals to Baltic Amber scented candles, we know you want your home or office to feel like the holiday aisle, and we’ve got the tips do help you do it. Read on for five fall design trends.

Bouclé, Accents & Layered Landscapes

Common in both clothing and upholstery, bouclé is stitched in a way that makes it notoriously fuzzy, and when it’s cold, we just love snuggling up near the fireplace with a bouclé pillow or large throw. When selecting your bouclé accessory, think neutral. For a consistent look, consider painting one accent wall in your Colorado home to match the season (dark is in!) Layered landscapes are also making waves in interior design this fall, and lamps tall enough to cast light over a shoulder, or a tall cocktail table, will give rise to a heightened and more refined space. Accent tables and lighting that is scaled appropriately tends to create a sophisticated look that can be enjoyed year-round.

Furniture & Statement Art

Depending on the extent of your new design scheme, you may be in the market for some new furniture. If you already have a large headboard, an oversized nightstand will be the perfect addition. The “oversized night table” trend has made a comeback in 2019 as they help create balance with dominating headboards. Not to mention, the added bonus of extra storage! Bright colors and graphic patterns are also becoming more prevalent with artwork this year. Take a “maximalist” approach on decor & don’t be afraid to mix colors, patterns, and textures. Take a gallery wall to the next level by having it cover an entire wall, or add a dramatic, large-scale piece to your favorite space.

The holidays are just around the corner and if you get started now, your project will effortlessly come together by the time your loved ones arrive. Use these tips and use experimental design until your space is exactly the way you want it. After all, you work hard and you deserve a place to retreat after a long day that feels equally as good as it looks!
