Local’s Fall Guide to Denver

September 7, 2022 By Rosanne Dutzer Leave a Comment

As the seasons change, summer comes to a close, and we warmly welcome fall and all things spooky. Lucky for us, Denver is home to some amazing fall events such as the annual Oktoberfest and Westword Music Showcase to name a few. And of course, leaf-peepers rejoice as fall ushers in a major color change to our mountains. Read our guide to luxury mountain getaways if you fancy yourself an escape to some seriously stunning scenery. Denver does autumn right, keep reading and discover more fun activities to spice up your harvest season!

Denver Walls Mural Festival

Kicking off our list of seasonal adventures is the annual Denver Walls mural festival in the art district of RiNo. Denver Walls is a part of an international series of festivals reaching cities like Seoul, Washington D.C., and Tokyo. The breathtaking murals are executed by Denver’s artists and showcase the amazing talent our residents (and some guest artists) have to offer. The festival lasts from September 22nd through the 26th. Stop by and witness some show-stopping art.

Denver Art Museum

O'Keeffe photography

Continuing the trend of visual arts, our next recommendation involves visiting the Denver Art Museum. At the museum, Georgia O’Keeffe’s photography awaits viewing and is on show until November 6th. O’Keeffe was an infamous artist most known for her paintings and referred to by many as the “Mother of American Modernism”. This exhibition is unique and allows us to peer into her lesser-known photography, reminding us of her spectrum of artistic talent.

Handmade in Colorado

Lastly, we call all lovers of fine art and contemporary craft to the annual Handmade in Colorado Expo. This event is made up of independent Denver designers who create handcrafted art and goods. The expo is free admission including live music and an array of creative exhibitors, making for the ultimate seasonal experience. Check out the event at either the Denver-Skyline Park location on September 16th, 17th, and 18th or at the Cherry Creek-Fillmore plaza on September 30th, October 1st, and 2nd.

Fall is an exciting time for Coloradans and artists alike, showcasing murals, photography, and handcrafted goods. As the weather changes, we can help our excitement for all the fun-filled activities Denver has to offer. Make the most of your fall season and check out these events!
