The new year has begun! Although Spring will be here before we know it, it is still chilly outside. The stagnant, restless nature of these winter months have many of us craving a small vacation or getaway as we wait for the warmer weather to roll in. If this speaks to you, we’ve got fantastic news – there are many destinations to explore right here in Colorado. Listed below are two of our favorite ‘Staycation’ destinations in the state that we believe are perfect for a relaxing, fun, and rejuvenating getaway.
Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Our number one staycation destination within Colorado is none other than Glenwood Springs. This gorgeous town has impeccable mountain views that surround multiple hot springs, shops, delicious restaurants, and places to stay. During any season of the year, we highly recommend soaking in the infamous Glenwood Hot Springs Resort pool which boasts natural hot spring waters that are healing for the mind, body, and soul.
Glenwood also has an incredible downtown area with kitschy boutiques and shops such as the Elizabeth Dean Boutique and High Country Gems and Minerals. And if you work up an appetite while out and about, be sure to visit some of our favorite restaurants such as Zheng Asian Bistro, Daily Bread, Co. Ranch House, and many more to experience a plethora of outstanding flavors and different cuisines.
With many places to stay, from cute Airbnb’s to Glenwoods wide selection of moderately priced, clean hotels – you can’t go wrong choosing this destination for your staycation-goals!
Boulder
We love visiting Boulder for its various free activities and beautiful scenery, which is why it landed in our top two destinations for staycations in Colorado! You can begin your day by walking the Pearl Street Mall and visiting the different shops, cafes, and restaurants. Another activity to keep on your radar is the Boulder Farmers Market, which you can visit beginning in the spring.
Other than shopping, Boulder is a great area for hiking and exploring the outdoors as well as touring different spots. Hike up Chautauqua mountain for a fantastic view of the city. Afterward, you may want to tour the incredible Avery Brewing Company or take a short car ride to the Celestial Seasonings Factory.
While you’re there, don’t miss out on Boulder’s tasty restaurants. Head over to Pasta Jay’s for a fun Italian experience, or Tahona Tequila Bistro for the best margarita’s you’ll ever try!
