As much as we love Denver in the summer, it’s always a great idea to escape the city life and enjoy the amazing mountain towns Colorado has to offer. Below are some of the best places to get away this summer in Colorado!
Vail
One of everyone’s favorite ski resort towns is just as nice in the summer as it is during ski season! Beautiful scenery is aplenty in Vail during the summer, perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities like mountain biking, hiking, golfing and or even whitewater rapids. Among the more Vail-specific sights and events to check out include any one of the outstanding music festivals like Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, Vail International Dance Festival, and the Vail Jazz Festival. The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens are another must see to add to your weekend plans along with all of the incredible shops, bars, and restaurants in town.
Steamboat Springs
There are few sights in Colorado quite like a beautiful landscape of wildflowers and Steamboat Springs boasts brilliant wildflower displays every summer. The Yampa River is another draw to this Wild West town, especially if you hope to take in some fly fishing, inner tubes, and rafting – all musts for a great Colorado summer. There is no shortage of hiking or mountain biking either and the perfect way to decompress after a long hike is at the Strawberry Park Hot Springs. If you make it to Steamboat in the next few weeks, you’ll catch the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and Art in the Park festival!
Telluride
The trip to Telluride is a bit further, which means you’ll want to take a day off for a long weekend! Telluride is a fantastic destination for everyone from thrill-seekers and athletes to filmmakers and artists of all kinds. Hop on the gondola to head up the mountain for an incredible view of the town, lined with classic grand Victorian buildings and perfectly nestled in a box canyon. For a unique hike, trek to Colorado’s longest free-falling waterfall, Bridal Veil Falls, or hit one of the golf courses for 9 or 18 holes surrounded by stellar views.
